Your BBPOS WisePOS E is a smart reader that needs to be registered in your Stripe Dashboard and connected to WiFi before you can take payments.
How do I set up the battery and charge the reader?
When you first receive the device:
With the back of the device facing you, lift up from the indentation at the bottom left corner to detach the back cover.
Insert the battery, sliding it into the exposed slot with the gold connectors aligned at the top.
Once the battery is in, charge the reader by plugging the provided cable into the port with the lightning bolt symbol.
Once it's charged, hold down the power button on the right side until the screen turns on.
To sleep or wake the device: press the power button once.
To fully power off: hold down the power button until the power-off option appears, then select it.
How do I register my reader in the Stripe Dashboard?
Make sure your reader is charged and connected to WiFi first — if it already is, skip to registering it below.
Log in to your Stripe Dashboard at dashboard.stripe.com.
Go to Payments > Readers > Locations.
Choose your location.
Under Readers, click + New.
Enter the unique pairing code shown on your device, give the device a name, and click Save.
You're all set!
How do I generate a pairing code on the reader?
Swipe from the left edge of the reader's screen to the right to open the settings menu.
Tap Settings and enter the admin PIN: 07139.
Tap Generate Pairing Code.
A three-word, hyphenated code will appear on the screen — enter this code in the Stripe Dashboard when registering the reader.
How do I connect the reader to WiFi?
The WisePOS E communicates directly with TowPay over your local network, so it must be on the same WiFi network as your TMS software.
To connect or switch networks:
Go to the reader's Settings menu.
Select WiFi settings.
Choose your network and connect.
Note: joining a new network disconnects the reader from any network it's currently connected to. Your WiFi network must use WPA-Personal or WPA2-Personal encryption and be password protected — open (non-password-protected) and enterprise networks aren't supported.
